God is standing in agreement with you!

Did you know that God is literally standing in agreement with you each time you choose to take him at his word and believe what he says as truth?  Yes, he requires faith from us in order for his word to be effected in our lives, but his response to our faith is the other part of the equation we sometimes forget about.  So we can end up thinking we need to strive to “reach” a certain level of faith in order to receive what we are believing for.

God tell us to believe and he does the rest – the work for us is in the believing.  John 14:13-14 says, “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” Mark 11:24 says “Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.”

God has given us truths in his word that we can have absolute confidence standing on because he himself is backing up what he has said.  Jeremiah 1:12 says, “Then the Lord said to me, ‘You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it.’”

A few years ago, I received a diagnosis from a health professional that was not so great. However I had decided that I would not be accepting the doctor’s words as to his outline of the potential consequence and outcome of the condition.  I knew the Word of God said that I was already healed and whole in every way (1 Peter 2:24).

For years, I chose to believe that my blood was operating normally, regardless of what the test results were telling me. I chose to believe that I would live a long, normal, healthy life. Along the way though, as the test results had not changed, but appeared to worsen, I started to wonder how long it would take for me to see the fruit of the healing.  Why was it taking time? Why could I not be instantly healed? Why did no-one ever have a word of knowledge for me for healing in any of the meetings I went to?

At that time, God was speaking with me about stepping out and operating in my own faith. He showed me that although he wants us to all agree together in prayer and stand with each other for breakthroughs, he also wants us to stretch our own faith and not rely on the faith of others solely. I felt almost as if I was being lazy in my faith by waiting for someone else to pray who had the faith for this condition, because I was not sure that I actually had the faith to believe for it.

As one of the symptoms of the condition was tiredness, I was also finding that I would use this as an excuse to rest, and procrastinate on tasks I really needed to get done. Not so long ago, I recognized this and decided that if I was using this as an excuse, then I was inviting the condition to stay in my body. I told God that I wanted to believe for healing and asked him to help me to believe. I felt that God really gave me the grace to believe for the healing and in that moment, I made a decision to receive full health from him.

A few days later, I was at a church leadership meeting. One of the team members, Dave, had a word of knowledge about my condition. I immediately put up my hand and said yes that’s me. When I stood up for him to pray for me, he said, “God has told me that he has already healed you, but he has anointed me to pray for you to receive the healing.”

A couple of days later, I realized what had happened. I had extended my faith to God and said that I wanted to believe for complete healing. When Dave received the word of knowledge, God had told him that it was already done, that he had already healed me. God was operating through Dave to confirm to me that he was standing in agreement with me agreeing with his Word. It was already done when I chose to believe after asking God to help me to. God was confirming his Word, confirming that he saw me step out in faith and was watching over his word to perform it.
